Sump Pumps

Sump pumps are a necessity in every house with a basement – they pump out rising groundwater and protect your home from flooding. No one wants standing water sitting in their basement, as it can lead to mold and mildew.

There are two different types of sump pumps: submersible and upright. You can also install a backup system to protect yourself during a power outage. A basement waterproofing system including one or more sump pumps is one of the best investments you can make for your house.

How Does a Sump Pump Work?

A sump pump is a motorized pump that effectively pumps water out of the sump pump pit and out of your house. In the pit where water collects, there is a float. As water fills the pit, the float rises. Once the float reaches a certain height, it activates the switch for the motor to turn on and start pumping out water. Sump pumps also have a filter in them to prevent debris and rocks from getting sucked into the pump and damaging the mechanisms.

Sump Pump Installation

We offer sump pump installation throughout the greater Baltimore metro area including Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Carroll County, Howard County, and Harford County. There are two types of sump pumps: submersible and upright. A submersible sump pump sits down in a pit in the floor so the motor is in the water pit. An upright sump pump sits above the floor with the motor being above the water. Typically, submersible sump pumps have more horse power than upright pumps and are a safer bet to protect your home and belongings.

Water powered back-up systems

Protect yourself from ever having a flooded basement again. Sump pumps run on electricity so if the power goes out, your sump pump will not work. Install a water powered backup system to protect your house. Sure, we can all remember when the last time that we lost power was but when was the last time you did not have water? It happens very rarely so it is the best way to guarantee a working sump pump all the time. There are battery backup systems available but the batteries typically only last up to 24 hours.
